Welcome to my first character description! I’ll share a few of these between chapters to help you get to know my characters better. I’ll start with my heroine, Angelique.

My goal with Angelique is for her to be an enchnaced foil of the character Christine Daaé from the orignial novel. Angelique and Christine share similarities as orphans and ballerinas, with one parent being a renowned musician. However, Angelique is more assertive, independent, and resilient. Angelique stands up for herself, relying less on others in her journey. She demonstrates a strong determination to overcome adversity, learning valuable lessons from her mistakes along the way, which shape her into a more formidable individual.
Angelique is also highly socially conscious, with a deep understanding of people’s emotions that deepens her empathy for their struggles. She dedicates her time and resources to assist those less fortunate in her community, especially those in the church. Angelique has the ability to recognize social injustices, including poverty, inequality, and discrimination. She feels a strong moral duty to take action against these issues.
Now, I’m not here to hate on Christine Daaé or highlight her flaws (Angelique has flaws too. Martyr complex, anyone?); rather, I’m trying to enhance Angelique’s character, building on what Christine represents and highlighting the growth that she initiated. Christine walked so Angelique could run, so to speak.
All that said, I hope that you enjoy reading Angelique’s journey as much as I enjoy writing it! If you have any suggestions for how she could be improved, feel free to leave a comment below!
