‘Angels and Phantoms’ (working title) is my take on a sequel to ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’ It started out as fan fiction, but when I did my research and found out that the original ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ novel by Gaston Leroux has been in the public domain since January 1, 2011, I decided to try my hand at writing my own novel. In order to avoid bombarding you with chapter after chapter—especially since I have yet to finish them all—I will release a few extra posts in between them. But for now, here is a brief description of the story:

Angels and Phantoms

In the aftermath of the Phantom’s disappearance, a new love story unfolds. Angelique Léglise, a kind-hearted orphan and former ballerina, finds herself caught between the affections of a wealthy young aristocrat, Gustave de Fontaine, and the mysterious, haunting melodies that echo through the church she holds so dear.

Gustave, desperate to prove himself to his snooty family, sees courting Angelique and grooming her for a life of privilege as his chance to climb the social ladder. However, as their relationship deepens, Angelique begins to receive mysterious songs from a secret admirer. This admirer, a musical genius whose identity remains a mystery, has captured her heart with his haunting melodies.

As Angelique’s world becomes entangled with this enigmatic figure, she must navigate the complexities of her relationship with Gustave and the growing danger that threatens to consume them both. Will she find solace in the arms of the mysterious musician, or will her heart be torn apart by the demands of her social standing and the darkness that threatens to engulf them all?
